Hereford United's opponents next Saturday Mansfield Town are looking to strengthen their side with an additional striker before travelling to Edgar Street.
Mansfield supporters are said to be unhappy that Richie Barker, their top scorer, was allowed to move to Hartlepool with no replacement in the squad.
Manager Billy Dearden has Simon Brown suspended and Danny Reet a doubt.
"You can always satisfy folk with a signing but it's no good if they prove to be the wrong one six weeks down the line," he told the Mansfield press.
"I will not rush into a signing for the sake of it. I do have irons in the fire and am waiting on phone calls. I hope to get someone in for the weekend but if I don't we will roll up our sleeves and go with what we've got.
"With no game last weekend I have had time to get to know the players and now it's full steam ahead."
Meanwhile behind the scenes the local Mansfield MP Alan Meale has tried to take action against the Stags Supporters Assocation (SSA) over Message Board Comments. The case went to court.
However the Judge ordered the release of registration details and found their conduct to be entirely proper and reasonable and endorsed such conduct by ordering Mr Meale to pay SSA's legal costs.
