John Trewick, the Hereford United coach, whilst acknowledging that Macclesfield deserved to win yesterday, thought his players had worked hard.
"I think their second goal just gave them that liitle bit more impetus to go on and win the game comfortably in the end," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"But, you know, the lads worked very hard and done their best so we've got to take it on the chin and look to next week."
Trewick was also quoted by the League paper.
"We were doing well until reduced to ten men, but when you have a shot that hits the inside of the post and then rolls across the line, you know it's not going to be your day."
Meanwhile Ray Mathias, the Macclesfield assistant manager, gave Hereford some credit.
"They certainly got better after going down to ten men and it was difficult for us, it's always hard playing against ten men. They tend to step up a gear and they changed their system so all of a sudden you've got to make changed yourselves as well as making sure that our players stay on their game," he told the Official Macclesfield website.
"They were dangerous from set pieces, we knew that and we nearly conceded from one of those but that was the only way they were going to score I felt. But in the end we did well, kept a clean sheet and were delighted with the win."
