James To Stevenage?

A number of departures are still expected at Weymouth according to various press reports, despite chairman Martyn Harrison agreeing to cover losses for the remainder of the season.

Harrison has admitted that five academy players were training with the remains of the first team as a string of players talk to other clubs. Harrison admits also that he has spent £2.5million of his own money on the club, but will not be asking for it back.

Former Bulls captain Tony James has been linked with a move to Stevenage alongside teammate Nick Crittenden, Richard Logan was believed to be the third Weymouth player talking over a move to Exeter, and ex-Bulls loanee Chukki Eribenne was believed to be in talks with Gravesend.

Ben Smith is also mulling over a pair of offers, reported to be from Cheltenham and the Bulls, and is expected to decide before the weekend. Should all these players leave, it will take the total to depart the Wessex Stadium to 10 in a week.

Smith has also been a transfer target for Kidderminster Harriers, but boss Mark Yates admitted his interest was cut short abruptly: "I made a call about Ben and I was told that Weymouth would want a fee and that there were a number of league clubs interested in him."
