Shrewsbury Town chairman Roland Wycherley has spoken out about potential problems surrounding the club's move to a new ground.
Construction at Oteley Road is well under way and the hope is to move there before the start of next season.
The Shropshire Star reported Wycherley's comments yesterday.
Shrewsbury Town have asked for more time to complete all the work involved with the new stadium. The 15M deal includes the provision of community piches.
"The community pitches are no longer on schedule," said Wycherley.
"This is crucial as the current planning consent requires the community facilities to be operational before the stadium can be brought into use.
"Because of the practicalities of growing seasons and so forth, it is now unlikely that the community facilities can be operational before the stadium is completed.
"So without a deadline extension, there is the very real prospect of the completed stadium standing unused."
The council meet next week to discuss the situation. Wycherley beleives a local action group is trying to stop progress of the new facilities.
He said it was time to cast off "political dogma, the urge to settle past scores and the undue influence of small, unrepresentative pressure groups".
It is understood that the Councillors face elections in May.
