Bad Night For League Two Crowds

It was highlighted several times last season that winter nights and Champions League football don't do the Conference attendances any good, but last night was a clear indication that League Two is suffering from the same problems.

While the Bulls' gate was poor it was nowhere near as bad as the 1,527 that watched Chester beat Boston - including 51 away fans, and the 1,588 that saw Barnet lose at home to Grimsby - with an identical figure at Torquay as they drew with Wrexham.

Macclesfield got the award for the lowest gate of the night however, with just 1,472 witnessing their first league win of the season.

Overall, gates fell 1,309 for each match last night compared to the home side's previous home league match with many gates being their lowest of the season. That loss in attendance equates to roughly £20,000 in lost revenue for each match.
