Hollins Walks As Crawley Fail CVA

UPDATED: John Hollins has quit as manager of Crawley Town on the day the club failed their CVA deadline.

A statement from supervisors Begbies Traynor stated: "The joint supervisors confirm that only limited funds have been received by the 4pm deadline for the monies to be received from S A Retail Limited in settlement of the monies required pursuant to the Company Voluntary Arrangement of Crawley Town Football & Social Club Limited."

A further meeting of creditors will now be held to discuss the current situation.

Hollins departed Broadfield Stadium this morning along with assistant Alan Lewer and is now one of the favourites to take over at Grays, who axed their manager on Saturday. Crawley have taken 22 points so far this season, which would have been good enough for mid-table if the club had not started on -10 points. Hollins has relied on loan signings, non-contract and youth players to assemble a squad.

The Non League Paper reports that the deadline for Crawley to make the CVA payment was 4pm today and the news of Hollins departure was seen as a negative sign by Crawley's fans. Owners, the Majeed brothers, have placed one of their homes up for sale in order to cover the cost but it has not sold, and their flagship bar in Brighton has been shut by Police for three weeks after repeated violence at the venue.
