Eight York Players Given Boot

York City have released eight players following their narrow miss of the play-off places.

Operating an already wafer-thin squad in the final weeks, David Merris, Mark Hotte, Joe O'Neill, Chris Porter, Stephen Thomas, David Stockdale, Ashley Winn, and Steven Baynes have all been released. Four of them played in the final day defeat by the Bulls, and the releases mean York have, like Kidderminster, axed both first team keepers.

The remainder of the squad are in contract discussions, and five youth team players have received offers.
