Vines wins compensation

Francis Vines, the former Crawley manager, has been awarded £5,825 in compensation against the owners of Crawley Town for not honouring a severance clause in his contract.

According to the Surrey press, the ruling came after chairman Azwar Majeed failed to turn up to an employment tribunal. Three other former Crawley employees are also said to be suing the club.

Vines later said that he would have to wait and see if Majeed will pay him the award.

"They should have paid me the money there and then instead of dragging it out. If you agree in a contract to pay someone, then you pay.

"This is typical of the way the Majeeds approach things. I really enjoyed my time at the club. They were fantastic times and it was only the last few months that were a bit unstable but the rest of the time it was great."

Meanwhile an article written by the editor of Bulls News has been noted in the Surrey press.

According to an unofficial Hereford United news website, Crawley Town's owners have ordered their official website (www.crawleytownfc.co.uk) offline after falling out with the webmaster.

The Hereford United website claims the webmaster was accused by the Majeed brothers of organising a campaign against them when they were approached over the idea of a supporters' trust.

The website also alleges that the webmaster's free season ticket which he received for running the site was being revoked.

A partially finished official site has now been set up in its place, it claimed.

At the time of going to press, Chas Majeed was unavailable for comment.
