Stanley to move into 21st Century

Accrington Stanley are being forced to make chances to their ground to bring it up to a reasonable standard. And, after the work is completed, their fans won't be able to swap ends at half-time as has been their custom for years.

Work has now begun on the ground improvements necessary to allow the Milkmen to play at a higher level and the greatest alteration is all about segration. The stadium will be divided into four sections all separate from each other.

Visiting supporters will have slightly upgraded facilities.

Other improvements include the installation of a spectator first aid room and the installation of a stadium control room.

All turnstiles will be linked to a central computer with stadium management software enabling easy monitoring of all areas of the ground. The telecommunications network at the ground is to be extended allowing landline communication to the stadium control area from all areas of the stadium, and emergency lighting is to be installed in all areas of the ground, with normal and emergency lighting to all external exit routes.

The club says that the improvements will cost around £100,000 and they hope to acheive this and, at the same time, keep the club in the black.

It also comments that they are fortunate not to have any of our income swallowed up by interest and repayments on loans as many clubs at all levels do, sometimes in significant chunks!

We will always insist on only spending money that we have coming in to the club and we can assure everyone that every penny spent here, be it on gate receipts, programmes, merchandise or money spent in the bar, is all reinvested to create an even brighter future for Accrington Stanley Football Club.
