High Turnover at Exeter

The latest accounts for Exeter City were released late last week. The figures were boosted by the Grecians excellent FA Cup run in which they met Manchester United.

According to This is Exeter turnover for the year to May 31st 2005 was £2,174,336, with a profit of £591,600, helped by the two Manchester United FA Cup ties which brought over £900,000 including the gate share from both matches, TV and radio income and related commercial revenue.

However if the Man Utd income is stripped out, the figures would show a loss of around £300,000 for the year.

The profit allowed the Grecians to repay a loan of £174,592 to the Football Foundation and the remaining £300,000 to the supervisor of their CVA.

The turnover figure from Exeter, without the Man Utd contribution, was about £100,000 higher than that just released by Hereford United. This is probably explained by the higher gates at St James.

However it looks as though the Grecians must have somewhat higher expenses than the Bulls, perhaps by as much as £400,000.

It seems likely that some of this extra expense will have been on players wages, which could explain why manager Alex Inglethrope had his wage bill cut for this current season.
