After initially being cleared by the FA, Altrincham face an eight point deduction over the James Robinson ineligibility claims according to the NLP.
Accrington were charged last week but Altrincham were cleared on the basis that they had signed Robinson, who now plays in Australia, from another English club.
Now fellow Conference strugglers have pointed to the Conference rules over ineligible players - and Altrincham faces losing the eight points won in the 13 matches Robinson played in.
The loss would drop Alty to the bottom of the table, three points from safety. Tamworth were docked three points under similar circumstances last season, and Leigh RMI were thrown out of the FA Trophy for fielding an ineligible player.
