Yates warns his players

Manager Mark Yates said his players "were poor, very, very poor" after Aldershot defeated Kidderminster 4-1 at Aggbrough this afternoon.

Next Saturday, Kiddy travel to Edgar Street, and Yates is hopeful he can get a better performance from his players.

"The players know what they're in for over the course of the next week. I'm obviously not going to come out and say what I've got planned for them but I know what I'll be doing," Yates told the Official Kidderminster Website.

"We know what type of game Hereford are going to give us and it's going to be hard. We were absolutely shocking out there today - that wasn't what we're about, it just wasn't us. Things will be different.

"We were poor, very, very poor. As the Manager I have to take responsibility for that and I hold my hands up for today.

"That certainly is not what I set my team up to do before a game and I will be working hard to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

"The players knew I wasn't happy. I sat and suffered for 45 minutes watching their performance and getting a lot of stick from the fans, which was entirely justified. I'd like to apologise to them for that performance.

"What I said to the players at half time will stay private but I thought it fair that the players faced some of that stick themselves after the way they played.

"I wanted a reaction from that. I didn't get it."

Yates did compliment striker Luke Reynolds, who he signed from Telford last week.

"Luke was excellent from minute one to minute 90 today, he did everything right. I think the players around him in the team need to look at where he's come from and then take a closer look at themselves."
