Winning Isn't Always Best

After the weekend the Bulls may have to settle for a play-off place, but the play-off winners are enjoying the better of life in the Football League.

While current Conference champions Barnet are just four points away from dropping back down, play-off winners Carlisle sit on top of League Two with former Bulls loanee Karl Hawley the division's top scorer.

Chester also find themselves facing a relegation fight, one point below Barnet, while that season's play-off winners Shrewsbury retain a faint hope of a play-off spot. Even Yeovil, whose rise from 1,500 gates to 8,000 sell outs appeared to be ready to rocket the side into the Championship, sit uncomfortably three points above the League One relegation zone while their respective play-off winners, Doncaster, eye a play-off spot in the same division.

Off field problems may be the key to the winners' problems. Both Barnet and Chester are embroiled in long disputes with their local councils over their stadiums, and Yeovil are subject to supporter unrest over the recent sale of the majority of the club to former manager David Webb. The discord amongst supporters led Webb to resign his Chief Executive position after less than two months.
