After just one appearance, Paul Merson has quit Tamworth and officially retired from football.
Merson played a low-key role in Tamworth's 2-1 home defeat by Halifax two weeks ago, and was an unused sub in last Saturday's 5-0 drubbing at Grays. Fans attending the Halifax match noted that Merson did not appear match fit after two months out injured, and the papers gave Merson low ratings for his performance.

Hopefully he will decide that he wants to knuckle down and finish the season off with us.The decision is in his hands but he has to train with us and work hard."
