Tamworth Chase Merson

Tamworth have made an ambitious bid for Paul Merson's playing services.

Merson, sacked as Walsall boss earlier in the week, lives close to Tamworth and is friends with Tamworth boss Mark Cooper. Notts Forest have also made an approach to the former England playmaker.

In other Conference news, Halifax have signed three of their players to extended contracts. Martin Foster, Tyrone Thompson and Adam Quinn have all signed deals to the end of next season. Cambridge have added Colchester striker Jamie Guy to their signing of Stacey Coldicott. The 18 year old joins on a work experience basis, but the U's have lost out on Duane Darby who has joined Nuneaton as Player-Coach. Dagenham have lodged an appeal against Sam Saunders' dismissal in the FA Trophy replay win over Tamworth. Saunders was one of three players red carded in the match. Grays have made their FA Trophy Quarter Final tie with the Daggers all ticket.

In other news, former Bulls loanee Joe Anyinsah has joined Bury on loan from Preston after just four substitute appearances following a summer move from Bristol City.
