With Halifax playing Morecambe live on Sky (Monday, 7.45pm, Sky Sports 1), Bulls fans will get an early taster of what to expect next Saturday in the FA Trophy tie.
Halifax slipped below the Bulls in the league on Saturday on goal difference for the first time since September, and a lack of consistent firepower is a problem for both sides. Halifax have scored just five goals in their last five games, with ex-Bull John Grant top scorer with eight but only 2 in the last 12 games. Manager Chris Wilder admits his four senior forwards are inconsistent and any two of the four could start.
The Bulls early season defeat at The Shay 2-1 saw the Bulls with their own forward problems. Guy Ipoua lasted just a quarter of an hour in an abortive comeback attempt, and Adam Stansfield missed the match completely, leaving an unfamiliar pairing of Danny Carey-Bertram and Rob Purdie up front. That defeat came on the back of a run where the Bulls had scored just two goals in six matches, but they go into the Trophy match with 16 goals in a seven match unbeaten run, and nine games unbeaten away from home.
