Kidderminster Harriers have appointed former Captain Mark Yates as their new manager.
Yates spent two spells as a player with Harriers, leaving in May 2004 for a coaching job with Burnley. The move comes as something of a surprise as the board only met last night to discuss the shortlisted candidates. The official statement reads: "It is anticipated that the former Birmingham City and Cheltenham Town midfielder who has this season been with Championship side Burnley as their first team coach, will take up his new position with immediate ahead of tomorrow's game with Woking."
The statement adds that a 1pm press conference has been called. The wording of the article suggests that some details of Yates' departure from Burnley, where he is currently first team coach, have yet to be worked out.
