Preview: Bulls vs Woking

The Bulls entertain Woking this Saturday at Edgar Street (3pm). Eighth placed Woking are ahead of the Bulls by just a goal difference of one in the table.

Woking have had the better of the encounters at Edgar Street. Over eight Conference visits, Woking have lost just twice with the last being in December 2002 with the Bulls winning 5-0 against a 10 man Woking. Michael Rose and Ben Smith both scored twice that day, with Steve Guinan scoring the other. Last season it was all square with a 2-2 draw at Edgar Street, the Bulls surrendering a 2-0 half time lead, being followed by a 1-1 draw at Kingfield.

The Bulls have lost just once in nine matches, scoring just nine goals in that time but conceding just five. The return to full fitness of Guy Ipoua has strengthened an otherwise inexperienced attack as the Bulls negotiated a tricky FA Cup match at Cambridge City last Friday. Danny Carey-Bertram leads the goalscoring charts with five. Both Jamie Pitman and Jon Brady are former Woking players. Pitman made 50 starts for Woking in a two year spell, while Brady had two months at Kingfield before leaving for Chester.

Woking come to Edgar Street on an eleven match unbeaten run including draws against the top two in the Conference and beating Notts Forest in the LDV Trophy. They have averaged two goals a game in that run, conceding just seven in total. Justin Richards is top scorer with ten goals, with Craig McAllister and Karl Murray both scoring four each. Murray was scheduled to join up with the England National Game squad, alongside Bulls Tamika Mkandawire and Danny Carey-Bertram, but is now likely to be withdrawn with Woking's FA Cup replay with Southport clashing with the Belgium game.
