McIlroy Named As Caretaker Boss

Morecambe have named ex-Northern Ireland boss Sammy McIlroy as their temporary manager until Jimmy Harvey recovers. His assistant at Macclesfield, Stockport and Northern Ireland, Mark Lillis, will also assist him with the Shrimpers. McIlroy and Lillis won the Conference with Macclesfield in 1997.

In other Conference news, Cambridge have signed Farnboro's Gavin Heeroo on loan for a month, and have also taken Southend's midfielder Max Porter on work experience basis. They have also appointed Darren Bloodworth as their third Youth Team manager in six months, with both the previous occupants of the post joining Southend's Academy. Kidderminster have signed former Wolves and Torquay defender Patrick Flynn on non-contract terms. The former u-19 Irishman was released by Wolves in the summer and had a brief spell at Torquay in September. Dagenham have signed Jimmy Corbett on non-contract terms as the one time £525,000 winger tries to rebuild his career after two injury plagued years at Southend. Corbett, 25, cost Blackburn over half a million in 1998 but never played a first team game for them. Forest Green have released Jamie Gosling, who had a trial at Edgar Street at the end of last season, but have signed Guy Madjo on loan from Bristol City with a view to a permanent deal. Madjo, 21, has scored one goal in six appearances in the first team at Ashton Gate but is surplus to requirements at the moment. Exeter are waiting on news from Notts County after it emerged that on-loan winger Tony Scully has been offered his release by the League Two side. Scully is believed to be considering an offer on the remainder of his contract.
