Turner: "We Did Enough To Win Game"

Quoted on the official HUFC website, Graham Turner felt his side had done enough to win the game:

"I think we?ve crossed the ball on more occasions today than I've known for a long time. We took up great positions at times, especially around the back, but never produced enough quality, or enough movement in the box. We did enough to have won the game, but we?ve now got to go to their place, and make sure we do it there. I'm disappointed not to have won, but the important thing was we didn't get caught with the sucker-punch, because that was always on the cards. We had two excellent chances to win the game right at the end, but to be fair their keeper has caught his crosses well. He?s made two or three very good saves, and we?ve got that one over the bar from Guy Ipoua.
I think with the amount of ball we?ve had around the back, we just needed that finishing touch, and I?m not sure a lack of passion is the case. We didn't want to get caught up in the way they wanted to play. At times one or two of us towards the end did. I'm disappointed as Andy Ferrell was going through in the last few minutes, and the referee brought it back. He's then booked Alex [Jeannin] for asking him what was it for, and Alex now misses the replay on Tuesday night. That creates a problem for us with Simon Travis not being fully fit."

Turner's final quote about Jeannin's unavailability is interesting. Kidderminster were sweating all week about the availability of Iyseden Christie before the FA confirmed the suspension began seven days after receiving the last card. Page 191 of the FA Handbook states:

(viii) Any period of suspension arising from recording cautions will commence on the seventh day following the date of his last offence. The suspension will cover all approved First Team matches until such time as his Club?s First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment in approved Competitions during the period covered by its opening league match and ending with the final match in which the Club is playing in an approved domestic Competition.
