Three important fixtures tomorrow

There are six Conference fixtures tomorrow evening, three of which involve teams hoping for a play-off place.

Hereford are at home to second-placed Carlisle. A full preview of this game will appear this evening.

Third-placed Halifax make the long trip to Exeter who are nineth. The Grecians would be disappointed not to have taken all three points from Canvey Island last Saturday, but a 90 minute goal for Canvey resulted in a draw.

Halifax were at home to Leigh RMI and put five past the Railwaymen, whose time in the Conference is about to end. Ex-Hereford forward John Grant started for the Shaymen but was subbed early in the second half.

Exeter could just shade this contest as Halifax haven't got a very good away record. The Shaymen have lost their last two away matches, to Carlisle and Scarborough, and have only won six away games this season.

The other top game is the visit of Stevenage (8th) to Woking (10th). The Cards were defeated at home on Saturday by Dagenham and will be desperate to resurrect their play-off challenge as they have only picked up two points from their last four matches.

Stevenage were on a good run, having gained ten points from their last four fixtures, until Hereford United visited Broadway last Saturday. However many observers thought that the Boro put in a good performance and they will be confident of getting at least a draw at Kingfield.

Whatever happens at these two games at least two of the clubs will drop points. If Hereford can secure a win against Carlisle, then their place in the play-offs will look that little bit nearer.

Meanwhile at the bottom of the Conference Leigh play Canvey. Only a win for the Railwaymen will keep them with the very remote chance of staying in the League.
