Pitman relives Southport game
Jamie Pitman has telling the Evening News about the last time Hereford United visited Southport and the changes in players at Edgar Street since that time. The article follows on a Bulls News item earlier this week which stated that only four players who were on the team sheet that day are still with the Bulls.
"I remember it well. It was the day they nearly got relegated and we had previously just missed out on the play-offs. The lad we had on loan from Bristol City, Correia, scored an incredible goal to win the game," said Pitman.
"We were all amazed. I think he picked the ball up near the half-way line, ran through about four or five players and then belted a shot straight into the top corner.
"It's amazing looking back how many players have come and gone at Hereford since then. Some have gone on to play in the Football League and others have dropped down the divisions."
Pitman is aware that his back injury sustained against Aldershot in September has kept him from starting recent games.
"The injury kept me out for a month and it put me back a little bit. I've just started getting back to my normal self and I've played a couple of games here and there," he added.
"It's a squad game now and there's always somebody that's good enough to take your place. I will have to be patient and keep my head down because my time will come.
"It's not pressure but good competition and in that respect I have to perform to a higher level to get back in."
