Evans in trouble again
The Boston United manager, Steve Evans, has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute after the Pilgrims game with Notts County last month. Maybe he will be banished to the stands when his side visit Edgar Street next month.
He is said to have disagreed with several of the referee's decisions. The FA has given Evans until November 22nd to respond.
It is not the first time Evans has hit the headlines. Many will remember his public spate with then Dagenham manager, Garry Hill, a couple of seasons ago when both clubs were challeging for promotion from the Conference. And on Saturday they faced each other again when Boston defeated Hornchurch, now managed by Hill.
Yesterday's Non League-Paper carried a report on the game in which Evans was described by Hill as a man he "dislikes intensely".
Boston were fined £100,000 and docked four points from their first season in the football league as a result of being found guilty of financial irregularities which centered around players contracts. Evans was fined £8,000 and banned from football for twenty months. As soon as the ban was completed, last March, he rejoined Boston.
Earlier this season Paul Gascoigne spent a spell at Boston but it didn't go smoothly. Firstly the press conference on August 3rd to announce the deal had to be postponed as Gazzer was reported to be suffering from food poisoning.A week later he was said to have a perforated ulcer but by August 20th he was well enough to sign copies of his new book.
Gazzer left Boston in early October. He made just three starts for the Pligrims.
