Harriers drop Nike

Hereford United near-neighbours Kidderminster Harriers have dropped Nike as their shirt suppliers and turned to Admiral instead just as the Bulls are to have Nike kit for the first time this season.

Harries were unhappy with the quality of the sponsor's logo, while the first batch of shirts were lost and replacements inferior.

In a statement, Harriers said: "It is with regret the club has cancelled our proposed shirt deal to wear Nike kit.

"The club and sponsor had reservations about the quality of the sponsor's logo on the shirt. We instructed Club Sports, the Nike agent, the sponsor's name must be re-applied before production.

"However the complete allocation of shirts were lost by the courier acting on behalf of Club Sport.

"The club were then informed our shirt would no longer be available. Due to the limited time to offer a suitable alternative design, the alternative designs available to us were -in the club's opinion - unacceptable.

"Nike offered to manufacture a slight variation of last season's Manchester United kit. There were no assurances the kit would be ready for the start of the season, the product would have been more expensive and not original.

"The club in no way hold Nike and Club Sport responsible for the loss of the shirts. But with the season just weeks away, the club felt they had no option but to offer the contract to another manufacturer."

It is understood that M & M are supplying Hereford's new kit which is being produced by Nike. M & M no longer manufacture kit.

The new shirts will be on sale at the Hereford United open day which is due to take place on Sunday August 1st.
