Skipper back in two weeks?

Ian Wright could be back within two weeks, according to the Evening News.

The Hereford United captain broke bones in his hand and wrist after being struck by a fierce shot from Greg Rioch in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat against Northwich Victoria at Edgar Street.

However, the injury is not as bad as first thought, according to Wright. "It's pretty sore and swollen but I would hope to be involved sooner rather than later," he said. "It was a bit of a freak injury and the ball just caught me awkwardly as I blocked it."

Today, United host Halifax Town hoping to improve their home form. "We haven't had the results at home but we've actually been playing quite well," Wright commented. "We just need to keep going, do what we are doing, keep creating chances, and the law of averages says we will score some goals."

Next Saturday, the Bulls play Arlesey Town in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round and the winner receives £20,000 in prize money.

"We cannot afford any complacency but it gives us a great chance to progress," said boss Graham Turner.

Meanwhile, recent Hereford trialist Ian Hamilton has linked up with Woking.
