Guinan doubt for Halifax tie
Hereford United have a doubt of the fitness of attacker Steve Guinan for Saturday's home Nationwide Conference match against Halifax Town, kick off 3pm.
Guinan picked a knee injury in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Northwich Victoria and could miss Saturday's game, along with John Grant and Ian Wright, who has broken bones in both his hand and wrist. Defender Richard Teesdale is set to start alongside Tony James and Andy Tretton in defence. Ben Smith could also make his full league debut after returning to training following his dislocated shoulder.
Graham Turner, the United boss, told the Hereford Times: "We need the boost of achieving a home win. We are creating chances and we need to start putting them away."
Halifax captain Steve Bushell, and defensive rock Shaun Garnett will both be banned for the match, whilst attacker Simon Parke has a groin strain and is unlikely to start. However, Town boss Chris Wilder expects striker Brian Quailey to start up-front after a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Hereford's FA Cup opponents Arlesey Town are treating the game very professionally. Club spokesman Jim Anderson said: "We will be staying overnight and treating the game as our cup final. There is a lot of interest in the village and we will be bringing at least two supporters' coaches."
