A poor Hereford performance this afternoon resulted in a 1-0 victory to Scarborough.

United slump to second home defeat
Hereford United 0 - 1 Scarborough
Hereford went down to their second home defeat of the season in front of 2,172 people, with the 55 from Scarborough going home happy. The Bulls made one change to the starting line up from Kettering on Tuesday night with Purdie replacing Grant, meaning Parry was put up front and Purdie in the midfield role.
It was the Bulls who started the brighter with a few runs but no chances being made, the story of the match. It took until the 33rd minute for a chance to be made where Parry headed wide after some slick play by Hereford, but the main talking point before this was a cruciate ligament injury for Scaboro’s Rennison after falling awkwardly.
Five minutes later and the Seadogs made the only break through as Pounder cut in from the left unchallenged before rolling the ball past Baker from 14 yards. The only other chance was when Stoker in injury time fired a powerful shot at Baker who spilled before recovering to jump on the ball.
The second half saw Sawyer come on for Williams at half time, but it was Scarboro who had the two early chances as first (number 4) fired a free kick over the bar and Stoker wildly shot over from 20 yards out. This forced another change for Hereford as Purdie went off for Fox, in the 60th minute, and this sparked a little more urgency from the team.
Yet it was Tony James who saved Hereford with a superb tackle at the near post to stop Scarboro taking a two goal lead. Then it was Hereford who had the posession with only long range efforts from Sawyer, Pitman and Wright all going over the bar to show for it.

A very disapointing display against a very well organised and drilled Scarboro side, Hereford need to learn how to break side like these down if
they are to make an impact this season.
