Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds has commented about tomorrow's home game against AFC Fylde being postponed.
“We are obviously gutted to lose another home game and everyone at the club shares the frustration being felt by supporters," said Ammonds.
“Sadly, the rain that has fallen consistently for the past few weeks has, in the end, given us no chance of getting recent games on, despite the best efforts of our Groundsman, Ben Bowen. On behalf of everyone who cares about Hereford FC, I’d like to thank Ben for continuing to go above and beyond in terms of the hours he puts in at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium.
“To provide an update on contingency plans for future fixtures, I can reassure supporters that we have been in discussions with the National League for the past couple of weeks and I’d like to thank League officials for the understanding we have been shown.
“While we are aiming to provide a definitive update on our plans early next week, the situation is complex which is why we have not wanted to say anything publicly too early. The last thing we want to do is cause further frustration or confusion by providing an update before contingency plans are completely finalised.
“With that in mind, I’d like to thank Bulls fans for their ongoing patience and support. This is a situation that none of us want to be in, but the problems with the pitch drainage could not have been predicted, regardless of any impact caused by the floodlight installation project. The wider issue with the drains was completely unexpected and unfortunately it has been magnified by one of the wettest Winters on record.
“I would also want to take a second to thank all the staff and volunteers who continue to make such a vital contribution to our club. They have been working tirelessly to help us get through the ongoing issues and I truly hope that in the near future that hard work will be rewarded.”
