Striker urgently required

Last night's defeat showed how badly Hereford United require a striker.

Neither Paul Parry nor Steve Guinan are natural strikers. Whilst both made good contributions to the game, their finishing is just not good enough. Fox has not impressed and Voice is unlikely to feature for sometime.

There does not appear to be anyone lined up to come on trial.

Although Northwich won the game, it was Hereford who created the most chances.

Graham Turner speaking after the game said that he thought supporters would be disappointed with the result, although the team played good football in the first half. He again commented on how young the squad is.

The problem Turner faces is simple. Any more games lost at home especially to opposition lower in the league will result in lower attendances. The gate last night was only 1400. Perhaps the weather slightly affected the numbers, and in any case after the defeat at Burton a drop was expected. But 1400 is perhaps 400 less than it might have been. That's easily £2,500 less income.

It must be hoped that on Saturday the team return to winning ways. After the only other away defeat this season at Gravesend, the Bulls then lost at home to Morecambe. Then they went six games without defeat!
