Captain set for cup return

Hereford United skipper Ian Wright could make his comeback from injury on Saturday as Arlesey Town visit Edgar Street in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, kick off 3pm.

Wright has broken bones in his hand and wrist but could feature sporting a plaster cast if it has recovered sufficiently. He has missed the last two matches.

Speaking to the Hereford Times, Wright said: "My arm has been a bit sore, but it's a lot better than we initially thought. I am wearing a plaster cast and, all being well, I could be available and part of the squad."

Arlesey will provide a stern test for United despite playing in the Ryman League Division One North, some two leagues below the Conference.

The winners of the match receive £20,000 which would be great boost to Hereford, according to boss Graham Turner.

"We shall show Arlesey every respect," he commented. "It was not too long ago that we lost at home to Newport Isle of Wight after taking a two-goal lead. This is a must win game for us. Financially, a run in the FA Cup is vital but so too is the prestige and interest created among supporters."

Arlesey's squad includes former Hereford defender Andy Theodosiou, striker Wayne Cort, brother of Newcastle's Carl Cort, ex-Peterborough and Walsall midfielder Scott Houghton and former Stevenage player Neill Trebble.

Theodosiou, who watched Hereford's thrilling 4-3 defeat to Northampton on Tuesday, told the Hereford Times: "We are all looking forward to the game and we should be bringing about 200 fans."
