HUST Meeting With Club Chairman

HUST met with Hereford FC chairman Chris Ammonds on Wednesday evening.

This is their report:

CHECKPOINT MEETING WITH CLUB CHAIRMAN

WEDNESDAY 11th FEBRUARY 2026

We can confirm that the HUST Board held a ‘checkpoint meeting’ with HFC Chairman, Chris Ammonds, last night. We addressed the initial points of concern at the current time and have agreed to an ongoing dialogue.

Recognising the enormity of the events of the day, we offered a large dose of ‘tea and sympathy’ to Chris given that he’s had to let a Team Manager go and the consequential busy day this had caused.

HUST also goes on record recognising the positive attitude that Paul Caddis brought to the club. Paul was a refreshing change to Edgar Street and gave us all a ‘reason to believe’. We would like to thank him for his contribution and his relationship with supporters.

Paul’s tenure started so well, but most fans seem to have concluded now that for various reasons, that momentum has not continued this season. We find ourselves in a relegation battle.

These were the areas of concern we discussed:

Budget Forecast Year Ending 31 May 2026

We were pleased to hear that there has been a more ambitious playing budget for the current season.

We reviewed the additional costs arising with the removal and subsequent replacing of the Manager, and any financial impact of games played away from Edgar Street, if that is necessary.

This will naturally consume some of the reserves diligently accumulated and have a knock on effect on the team budget for the new Manager, next season.. We will monitor this more closely.

Independent Review of Club Business Practices

Chris took the time to explain the reasoning behind the need for an independent review.  This is coming at a cost to the Club and we are keen to learn its findings in due course.

Season Planning 2026/27

We reviewed the reasons for the ‘stumbling start’ and how the Club is applying the lessons learnt.  We look forward to seeing the plans for pre-season as soon as they are arranged.

Player Recruitment and Retention

This has been a cause of concern by supporters this season. We reviewed the various reasons for this and mitigation for the future.

The Challenges Facing the Club

An overarching concern is the money now being ploughed into some lower league Clubs in quests that may only ultimately result in Clubs going bust again.  This is creating a challenge for Clubs, like us higher up the pyramid, to compete for players.

Lower league clubs generating more income above and beyond what our Club is creating, is an issue.

The very reason that a Football Regulator has been legislated to try and prevent such scenarios.

What Can We Do As Hereford Supporters

Supporters have been patient and loyal, yet we have a long way to go this season.  It is far from over!

We now ask all fans to play our ‘trump card’. Let’s do what we do best, unite, show our support, be respectful of the changes and challenges ahead and get behind Adam Rooney, our Interim Manager, and his team, in this hour of need!

We would like to thank Chris for his time, on an eventful day, for a candid, open and courteous discussion and we have pledged to continue the dialogue.
