National North - Weekend Preview

The National North League Weekend Preview is written by Tom Scott.

We're firmly in 'business end' territory and things are still wide open ahead of another big weekend.

The top three are all on the road in the Enterprise National League North - but will any of them avoid a bout of travel sickness?

South Shields are currently the leaders with a five-point gap from AFC Fylde - the Mariners are in fine fettle and have dropped just two points from their last 21 ahead of their trip to Marine.

The Coasters are the division's away kings and head to Oxford City.

How many Merthyr fans thought they might be in the title hunt when they faced Southport in the reverse fixture back in August? As the pair meet again, a win for either side could give them a huge advantage at their respective ends of the table.

Kidderminster Harriers had their six-game winning run halted by Worksop Town and head to Scarborough Athletic while the Tigers face old foes Macclesfield at Sandy Lane.

Curzon Ashton come into the weekend with their eight-goal drubbing from AFC Telford United still fresh in their memory.

It's Leamington up next for Mark Bradshaw's men - a side who are rooted to the bottom of the table and on a winless run that goes back to the first weekend in September.

The Bucks followed up their mauling with midweek FA Trophy progress - a win over King's Lynn Town could see them within touching distance of the top seven.

Radcliffe host Buxton while play-off contenders Chorley see the visit of Darlington.

Decent home form meets dreadful away form in Derbyshire as Alfreton - unbeaten in their last three on their patch - meet Bedford Town who are winless in five on their travels.

Peterborough Sports have seen form subside under Phil Brown after a promising start. The Turbines are winless in seven and have scored just three goals in that time ahead of the visit of Chester who could find themselves in the top seven for the first time since the opening weekend with a win at Lincoln Road.
