| Lawson D'Ath Is Helped Off The Pitch |
Sam Cummins reports from King's Lynn.
After exiting the ZZoomm HFA County Challenge Cup Quarter Finals in midweek at the hands of Kington Town the Bulls were back on the road with a trip to Norfolk to face a King's Lynn Town side who were winless in their last 6 games at the now named The Docherty Walks Stadium in the Enterprise National League North.
Hereford lined up with Theo Richardson, Aaron Skinner, Keenan Quansah, Mitch Roberts, Lewis Hudson ©️, Lawson D'Ath, Gus Mafuta, Harley Hamilton, Kaziah Martin, Justin Donawa and Andy Williams.
On the bench was Ollie Lewis, Matt Preston, Jaiden White and Adam Rooney with only four substitutes named by the Bulls for the second week running.
On a heavy pitch it was a fairly scrappy game in the first few minutes with no real chances for either side.
The first opportunity of the game came from Hereford after 8 minutes with a good ball down the right wing by Keenan Quansah into the feet of Harley Hamilton but the ball just ran out of play.
We were then awarded a throw in on the left which was hurled into the box by Justin Donawa which was headed clear by Tom Wilson back out to him which he delivered a cross back into the box left footed but it was collected by King's Lynn goalkeeper Paul Jones.
After a good bit of play by Hereford, Lawson D'Ath fed the ball into Andy Williams on the right hand side of the box who then played it to Harley Hamilton who hit a right foot shot from inside the box but it whistled over the bar.
King's Lynn’s first chance came with Ross Crane having a left footed cross from the left which curled wide of Theo Richardson's goal followed by a right footed shot by Cameron Forde-Brown which was held by Theo Richardson.
The Bulls were then awarded a free kick on the edge of the box after a heavy tackle by Tom Wilson on Gus Mafuta, Lawson D'Ath hit it right footed but the effort was wide of the left hand post before there was a stoppage in play about midway through the first half due to the ball being flat.

Cameron Forde-Brown had King's Lynn's next chance when he had space on the edge of the box and hit a right footed shot which went high over the bar before Hereford had a free kick on the right hand side of the box which was played into the box by Kaziah Martin left footed and was headed clear by Tom Wilson but only as far as Mitch Roberts on the edge of the box but his effort went over the bar.
The Linnets Morgan Williams then found Norwich loanee La'Sean Sealey inside the box but his cum cross/shot was smoothed by Theo Richardson before their biggest chance of the half and we got away with one when Gus Mafuta was trying to shield the ball but he was dispossessed by Morgan Williams who advanced into the box and with the goal gaping he put the gilt edge chance wide of the post.
Lawson D'Ath then did well to dispossess Tom Wilson on the edge of the box and managed to prod the ball into the path of Andy Williams but he dragged his left footed effort wide and was adjudged to have been in an offside position.
The final chance of the first half came with 42 minutes on the clock when the Bulls we're awarded a free kick midway inside the King's Lynn half which was played into the box by Kaziah Martin and found the head of Keenan Quansah but his effort was straight at Paul Jones who tipped the ball over the bar for a corner.
King's Lynn looked very suspect at the back in which Hereford shaded the first half and asked questions of them but couldn’t find a breakthrough.
Into the second half and the first opportunity of the half came from King's Lynn with a right footed shot by Morgan Williams goal bound which took a deflection into the path of Mitch Roberts who had the ball trapped in between his feet and a goalmouth scramble ensued before the ball was eventually cleared.
The hosts wre awarded a free kick on the left hand side of the box which Michael Clunan pumped into the box right footed and was headed away by Lewis Hudson with the loose ball being picked up Ross Crane who had a left footed shot which was collected by Theo Richardson low to his right.
Our first chance of the second half came from a low left footed shot by Kaziah Martin on the edge of the box which was saved by Paul Jones with a strong left hand.
The hosts next chance came from La'Sean Sealey with a strong effort which was parried away by Theo Richardson at point blank range.
Gus Mafuta played a long ball into the box which almost found the head of Harley Hamilton inside the box but the ball ran through to Paul Jones before MK Dons loanee Simone Troso for the hosts had a right footed shot from the edge of the box which whistled wide of the left hand post.
The Bulls then had their best opportunity to try to break the deadlock through Lawson D'Ath who hit a low right footed shot from the edge of the box which took a deflection on it’s way into the arms of Paul Jones low to his right which unfortunately as he went to strike the ball D’Ath picked up what looked to be a nasty injury and had to be replaced by Jaiden White. Hopefully it's not serious and wishing Lawson a quick and speedy recovery.
We continued to keep the pressure on and a good ball was played down the left wing by Lewis Hudson which found Andy Williams who cut inside the box on his right foot before hitting a curling effort which was tipped around the post by Paul Jones for a corner.
King's Lynn then broke from our own corner and went up the other end with Jayden Davis hitting a right footed shot which was saved by Theo Richardson for a corner before Michael Clunan had a right footed shot which was comfortably collected by Theo Richardson.
The home side appealed for a penalty when Jayden Davis’s left footed shot inside the box on the left hitting Aaron Skinner with calls for the use of a hand but the appeals were waved away by the referee before Hereford broke up the other end and Jaiden White crossing from the right into the box finding Lewis Hudson which as he was leaning back managed to direct his looping header back across goal towards the right hand corner but the ball was plucked out the air by Paul Jones.
The Linnets were then reduced to ten men with 83 minutes on the clock when Ross Crane was shown a straight red card when he went in for a late challenge on Lewis Hudson. We pushed with 7 minutes of regular time remaining and 5 minutes of additional time added on and were awarded a free kick on the left hand side of the box near the corner flag which was played into the box by Kaziah Martin but was cleared.
The final chance of the game came with Harley Hamilton having a right footed shot from 30 yards out which was beaten away by Paul Jones.
It was a hard fought point by the lads and another point on the board, the Bulls could of nicked it and had some good opportunities but couldn't break through. Now with no midweek game due to Macclesfield’s Trophy commitments it’s back to The MandM Edgar Street Stadium next Saturday for the visit of Spennymoor Town. COYW
