Sporting Khalsa keeper Ravan Constable |
Sporting Khalsa manager Ian Rowe has hit out after his goalkeeper Ravan Constable was allegedly subjected to racist abuse during Saturday’s FA Cup qualifying tie with Hereford.
The game was abandoned in the second half after "monkey chanting" was reportedly heard coming from the away end.
Hereford FC have since banned two supporters while an investigation takes place, with West Midlands Police confirming it was looking into the allegations.
Rowe said he was angry, disappointed and upset but praised Hereford for how they responded, with boss Paul Caddis pulling his players off the pitch in a show of solidarity.
Speaking after the incident, Rowe described those responsible “idiots” and said it was like something from the 1980s.
He was proud of his players and how the reacted and supported Ravan.
"But the incident... we're in 2025," he said. "People come to a game of football, enjoy the game of football - leave your opinions and your views at home. You're not welcome at our club."
He added: "Like I've said, it's 2025. Monkey chanting, come on. That's like something from the 80s. Give your head a wobble, you're not welcome at our club.
"Do not attend. Kick it out, kick them out."
Rowe said the club would review its plans to prevent any repeat in the future.
Constable has since posted on X that he was "emotional and angry" and said how "no one should ever have to face discrimination or hatred because of who they are".
In a statement on Sunday morning, the FA called the claims “very concerning” and said it was working with the referee, both clubs and the authorities to establish the facts.
West Midlands Police has urged any witnesses to come forward as enquiries continue.
