The last time Hereford lost their opening two games

Hereford have made the worst possible start to the new season, losing both their games and without scoring a goal.

Another 2-0 defeat on Saturday sees the Bulls languishing at the bottom of the National League North table.

It is the first time that Hereford have lost their opening two games since reforming in 2015. In fact, the last time it happened was in the 2011/12 season when Hereford United lost to Southend and Morecambe respectively. The Bulls actually lost their opening three games during that campaign and ultimately ended up being relegated.

It is of course way too early to suggest that this current team will be anywhere near the wrong end of the table, and a win on Tuesday at Buxton will soon silence any critics.

But it's the lack of goals that is certainly worrying many fans. After a promising first half at Spennymoor on the opening day, the Bulls failed to capitalise on the chances they had and were made to pay when of the league's most dangerous marksmen, Glen Taylor put the Moors ahead in what turned out to be a 2-0 win.

Yesterday's performance though was extremely poor, and if there are many more repeats going forward, you worry where the points would come from.

Hereford manager Paul Caddis said he "wouldn't dress it all up", admitting his side weren't good enough in both boxes.

Indeed, going forward, the Bulls looked toothless with Remaye Campbell isolated on his own. King's Lynn were far the better side and could have won by more. Caddis said he would reflect on what went wrong during his long drive back to Lytham St Annes, and it would be interesting to see what side he puts out on Tuesday.

Will Keenan Quansah and Aaron Skinner remain right and left back respectively, which are not their natural positions? Who will wear the armband? Skinner has worn it in the two opening games. Will Campbell be the only striker or will Caddis opt for two up top? If so, you would think Andy Williams would be the more suitable partner for Campbell than Chris Wreh.

Of course, the result will be the most important thing especially on the back of two defeats. But the manner of the performance will also be, otherwise the critics will be getting more louder.
