Faith and frustration: A fan’s message to Caddis after one of Bulls’ worst displays in 40 years

Lone striker Remaye Campbell had two defenders on him

There has been a lot of chatter online after Hereford's 2-0 defeat against King's Lynn on Saturday.

But here are the thoughts of one fan Gary Bradley, who has been watching Hereford for more than four decades:

I’ve had time to calm down and dissect, I still have faith in Caddis even with what I’m about to say. Paul, the buck stops with you, you're the one that recruited, you're the one that implemented the style of play. You can dress it up how you like, “full time opposition”, “budget restraints”, "time at training with the players”, but ultimately it’s the style of play!

The last 12 games last season and now to this. Two factors come into play here, the arrival of Theo Richardson and Remaye Campbell. Theo can ping it for fun yes, but we are so over reliant on it. Remaye is big, strong and an absolute handful but he can’t do it all on his own. And again so reliant on it!

It’s so easy to coach against. It’s schoolboy stuff, one defender in front and one behind pin him, win the first contact or pick up the seconds if he does. When he came in he was the target man we were crying out for, someone for Willo and Cowley to play off, or hold give it wide for our alleged wingers to put it in the box. What’s changed?

A few choice words in the dressing room; well I hope you give them a right of reply. If I was Rem and Osbourne yesterday I would have given you pelters back. Osbourne kept looking for the ball, demanded it, never got it. He was the only one that was busy, then gets dragged, if he wanted to watch the ball going over his head for 90+ minutes he might as well stayed at Alfreton! I’d like to ask why with two left backs on the bench you play Skinner at left back and Quansah - a centre half by the way - at right back?

That doesn’t breed much confidence of those sat on their arses, surely?

I’m not one of those that watch Match of the Day and expect a school teacher or car salesman to produce what I’ve just seen Salah or Palmer produce. But I have seen 40 years worth of football at Edgar Street and, to be blunt, yesterday took some beating for the most inept performance I’ve seen, not all of it due to those in the white shirt. Like I said, I have faith as your “still learning your trade” to recognise the shortfalls and change your system and style of play.

Because sadly in football, as you know, the credit you have earned over the last two seasons can be eradicated in a heartbeat.
