Supporters' group drops a clanger as coach heads to wrong ground - 110 miles away

A coach load of Spennymoor Town fans ended up 100 miles away from the stadium where their team were playing - admitting they had "dropped a massive bo***ck".

The independent Spennymoor Town FC Fan Group, an associate member of the Football Supporters' Association, admitted the error on X.

The club initially said on Twitter: "Fair play to all the Moors fans who we hear have just arrived safely in Oxford for this afternoon’s game. Unfortunately, we are playing AFC Telford United today… 🫣 See you soon!"

The supporters' group said they had told the coach company Spennymoor were playing AFC Telford United, so that was set as the destination.

But the coach soon found itself just 10 miles from last week's opponents, Oxford City. Their stadium is 110 miles from the Shropshire side Spennymoor were playing this week.

On X, the group said: "Upon realisation and the acceptance that we had dropped a massive bo***ck, our superb drivers turned the coach around and headed to the New Bucks Head to which we arrived in plenty of time.

"No further comment will be made."

The fans then saw their side fall to their first away defeat of the new season as AFC Telford United ran out deserved winners at The SEAH Stadium.

Goals from Dylan Allen-Hadley, Adan George and Jamie Meddows were enough to give the home side all three points, aswell as their first win of the National League North campaign.
