Caddis opens up about Hereford's injury problems - and he can't sign more players

Lawson D'Ath picked up an injury at Chippenham

Hereford were without four experienced players as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Spennymoor Town on the opening day of the season.

Boss Paul Caddis has given an update on the injury problems in his squad, but also admitted he won't be bringing in any reinforcements ahead of King's Lynn Town at Edgar Street next Saturday.

Speaking to the media after the opening day defeat, Caddis said Kai Williams had rolled his ankle in training on Thursday, Matt Preston has an Achilles issue which he picked up the same evening.

As for Lawson D'Ath, he came off during the 3-2 defeat against Chippenham in a friendly, having pulled his hamstring, and Chris Wreh pulled his hamstring at goalless draw at Alvechurch two weeks ago.

Despite the injury woes, Caddis said that was not an excuse for the defeat at Spennymoor but they did miss those four experienced players.

Only Kai Williams might be back for the next game, Caddis told BBC Hereford and Worcester's Trevor Owens, as he needed the weekend to see if his swollen ankle would settle.

When asked if he was looking at bringing anyone in, Caddis said: "No, that's the long and short of it at the moment. No. We're full in terms of where we're at with players, with budgets and stuff like that.

We don't have a load that we can go and bring somebody in. We are happy with recruitment we've done."

He added that there is no point overloading the squad by rushing and being desperate, worried and anxious because when everyone returns to fitness, there would be a large squad of 23 or 24 players which, Caddis said, "we can't carry".

"So no, we won't bring any more in at the moment."
