News round up

Kidderminster Harriers manager Adam Murray says he’s eager to see how his squad handles upcoming tests at Aggborough. They face Halesowen Town and Solihull Moors in their final pre-season fixtures.

Murray said friendlies so far have helped the players adjust to new ideas and build fitness, but now wants to see how they respond in front of their home crowd. Harriers begin their National League North campaign with a trip to South Shields on August 9.

AFC Telford United have signed 23-year-old attacker Ola Lawal for the upcoming season, confident he’s fully recovered from a fractured kneecap. Lawal originally joined midway through last season from Peterborough Sports but missed time through injury.

He’s now trained throughout pre-season and is expected to be a key figure for Kevin Wilkin’s side. The Bucks are aiming for a strong return to Step 2 after winning promotion from the Southern League Premier Central last term.

Goalkeeper Patrick Boyes, 22, has joined AFC Fylde after leaving Hartlepool United. He spent 19 months at Victoria Park but didn’t make a senior appearance, and now signs for Fylde following a successful trial.

Boyes came through the ranks at Hull City and is expected to compete for the No.1 shirt at Mill Farm this season. Fylde are aiming to bounce back quickly in the National League North after suffering relegation from Step 1 last term.

King’s Lynn Town have completed the signing of centre-back Tom Dickens from AFC Sudbury. The 23-year-old, who began his career at Cambridge United, made 84 appearances for Sudbury and twice won their Supporters’ Player of the Year.

Buxton manager John McGrath praised his side’s attitude after a 3–2 win over a talented Manchester City’s U21s in a pre-season friendly. His squad includes former Hereford players Sammy Robinson and Tate Campbell.
