Chris Bush - Medical Emergency

Former Hereford United defender Chris Bush was subject to a medical emergency last Thursday. He collapsed at home and was taken to hospital.

Bush plays for Boreham Wood and will now be unavailable for sometime.

This from Boreham Wood:

After a thorough evaluation by the team at Basildon University Hospital, it was discovered that Chris has a heart abnormality, likely something he has lived with since birth.

Following this diagnosis, the cardiology team quickly informed Chris that he would require a pacemaker to be fitted, and Chris underwent surgery on Friday afternoon. The club is delighted to announce that Chris’ initial operation was successful and he has now been discharged from hospital to continue his rehabilitation from home under the continued supervision of his Basildon University Hospital’s cardiology unit.

The club is pleased to say that Chris is in a stable condition. We remain in frequent communication with Chris, his family and hospital staff, although we cannot comment on Chris’ return to play timeline at this time.

As such, all we can do on behalf of our loyal Wood Army fanbase and the wider football family, is to send our love and prayers, and wish firm fan’s favourite Chris Bush a speedy and full recovery.

Chairman Danny Hunter said, “This is a huge shock to everyone and does put football and life into perspective. As a club we will do all we can to support Chris and his family as we move forward. I’ve spoken to Bushy at length, and he is as well as can be expected. He is adamant he’ll be back and is even talking about when. For now, though that is secondary, he must only concentrate on his own health and well-being, and focus on his and his young families future.”

The club will give updates on Chris’ progress as and when things develop. However, in the meantime, please join us in sending our love, positivity and prayers to one of football’s good guys and a cherished member of the Wood family.
