Match Report Hereford Women v Ross Juniors

Hereford entertained Ross Juniors at the county FA pitch.

It was an extremely windy and wet affair.

Hereford made a steady start putting plenty of balls through for the strikers to run onto but they couldn’t capitalise until Robyn Mear connected with a cross from Sheree Smith on eight minutes.

Hereford continued to dominate possession throughout the half frustrating Ross and still pushing good balls through to the forwards one of which Yssie Pearson connected with on 44 minutes making it 2-0.

HT Hereford 2-0 Ross

The second half started with more of the same, controlled and looking comfortable.

Until on 58 minutes Ross broke through with their first shot of the match on target, this was a turning point, Ross began to win the 50/50 duels in midfield and on 62 minutes found the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Midway through the second half Sheree Smith broke the line only to be pulled down in a clear goal scoring opportunity, resulting in a free kick but controversially no booking. Smith was forced to leave the field with an ankle injury.

Within ten minutes Jess Kenny was bundled over in the box but she failed to convert the resulting penalty.

Ross spurred on by this again had the better of Hereford’s midfield making it 2-2 on 79 minutes.

Hereford did have further chances to claim all three points but Ross held firm and saw the game out.

FT Hereford 2-2 Ross

Hereford need more depth in midfield and the powers that be need to start recruiting pretty soon if they are to push on and gain promotion this season.

Their cause was helped a little today by Kingfisher who started the day 2nd losing to Kidderminster United.
