Warrington Game Called Off

Tomorrow's game between Hereford and Warrington has been postponed.

Given the cold weather it's no surprise.

Last night temperatures dropped to -6C around Hereford and the forecast isn't much warmer for tonight.

The covers will be removed tomorrow at 10am.

Below more details from the club:

Unfortunately, temperatures dropped to around -5 last night, leaving the pitch frozen beneath the covers. To provide supporters and Warrington with as much notice as possible, we called an EFL match official in to inspect the pitch earlier today and they, after discussion with the match official,  have deemed it unplayable. As a result, the match has been called off.

General Manager Jamie Griffiths said: “Whilst we were hopeful yesterday that the game might go ahead, taking into account the current state of the playing surface, and the low temperatures forecast over the next 24 hours, unfortunately we have been left with no option but to postpone the game.

“We are disappointed to call off the game but we wanted to ensure both sets of supporters had as much notice as possible."

Despite the postponement, the frost sheets still need to be removed from the pitch on Saturday as they have been in place for seven days.

“We’re asking for volunteers to join us at 10 am on Saturday to help remove the covers,” added Griffiths. “The covers have been on for a week and so they need to be removed before they damage the grass underneath.

“We really appreciate the fantastic support we always receive from our volunteers and would ask for as many fans as possible to turn out in order to make light work of removing the covers.”

“Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support!”

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course. You will be able to request a refund as soon as a new date has been announced.
