Have National Highways Seen The Light?

Last Saturday BN published comments by Hereford FC chairman Chris Hammonds about the delay in getting approval for new floodlights at Edgar Street.

The comments came from a Herefordshire Council portal.

It seems that the publicity BN gave to the comments have provoked a response from National Highways.

According to BBC Hereford and Worcester Victoria Lazenby from National Highways said the body had no objections in principle to the lighting, and was committed to supporting the club with the application.

She added it was “working with the club to ensure we have all of the information necessary to meet safety standards”, but aimed “to resolve these matters as soon as possible".

Hereford MP Jesse Norman is taking an interest in the case.

“This is a serious issue for Hereford FC, which requires a rapid resolution.”

It does seem that the club will have permission to install the new floodlights shortly. Sources say that a meeting has been held in the last few days between all the interested parties to progress the application.

However given all the recent rain, Hereford FC will be wary of any potential damage to the pitch when installation finally takes place.
