From The Archives - Hereford Defeat Fulham

A look back to April 6th 1996:

HEREFORD United 1 Fulham 0 (report from the Sunday Mirror)

Tony James kept Hereford United's final push for a Third Division play-off place in their sights with a superb first half winner against Fulham.

James rose high above the Fulham defence to head home a free kick from fullback Kevin Lloyd in the 36th minute.

Michael Mison did get the ball into the Hereford net six minutes into the second half but Mike Conroy was penalised for fouling keeper Chris MacKenzie and United clinched their fourth successive home win.

Graham Turner manager of Hereford who have taken 23 points in a nine-game unbeaten home run, said: "In our push for a play-off place, we are having to grind out results. A win is more important than the performance in our present position."
