Southport manager Liam Watson said he felt Hereford deserved their 2-0 win at Edgar Street last night.
"I've got no complaints," said Watson.
"First half I thought we were the better team. We had one or two really good opportunities, we never made the most of it.
"We had a lot of possession and Hereford only had the odd sparadic break.
"Second half Hereford were miles better than us. Came out well.
"We looked jaded, they had a lot more freshness about them.
"It looked like a game too far.
"The goal which has changed the game is horrific from our point of view.
"They took a quick free kick which resulted in a penalty which is a penalty, no complaints, no issues whatsoever.
"And then the second one at the death, two individual errors.
"But as I said if it had finished 0-0 I would still be saying Hereford were better than us in the second half."
