Jack Holmes Lines Up His Goal
Southport manager Liam Watson felt his side should have done much better in front of goal in the game against Hereford this afternoon.
Hereford took the lead early in the second half through Jack Holmes but Southport had numberous chances to equalise but failed to do so.
"We had one team that was in form and one that was out of form," said Watson.
"I think we created enough chances to come away with three points.
"We ended up missing from a yard, Chris Doyle missed a great chance, Miles missed a one on one in the first few minutes.
"The chances came thick and fast but they never went in.
"Fair play to Hereford I think they defended well but we've got to do a lot better.
"We haven't been scoring goals so they sat deep and absorbed it.
"If I'm honest did they absorb it great, I don't think they did. They will say they did because they've got a clean sheet.
"Second half we played some decent stuff, got balls in the box, we looked like we were going to score."
Watson was unhappy with how Holmes scored.
"We gave away a shocking goal.
"We gave the ball away three times and then he's gone on the edge of the box where he's facing away from goal and he's managed to turn and get a shot off.
"You can't allow that to happen."
