Josh Griffiths is on a season-long loan from West Bromwich Albion.
The 21-year-old from Ledbury has also been on loan at Cheltenham and Lincoln.
While at Cheltenham, he played in an FA Cup Fourth Round match against Manchester City.
Talking to the Hereford Times about the match in January 2021, which Man City won 3-1, Griffiths, who also used to play for Hereford Pegasus, said: "It was a good day for myself and Cheltenham.
"I've trained with West Brom but it's the first time on a competitive level I've met the likes of Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez.
"I tried to make it as normal of a game as I could. I focused on it just being a football match and not who we were or who was watching.
"It was just another game against 11 players. I didn't think about it during the game but before I had hundreds of people texting me wishing me luck."
Colby Bishop - a striker who was at Leamington just three years ago - is also at Portsmouth. The Fratton Park outfit face Hereford in the first round of the FA Cup at Edgar Street.
