Aaron Amadi-Holloway was brought to Edgar Street as a striker but Josh Gowling has needed him to play in defence recently.
"Aaron has come in and said he can play centre-half," said Gowling.
"We always like versatile players in the squad so with the injuries so bad we had to do that.
"Is Aaron sharp enough to play at centre forward yet? No he's not.
"So, for us, playing centre-half he's been excellent.
"He wins his duals, he's very strong, he's comfortable in possession which is what we want from centre-halves and with Orrin along side him he's been fantastic."
Captain Jared Hodgkiss was back from injury.
"When we went to Boston we didn't have Skip or Luke and the dressing room was quiet.
"So coming away to Bromley and getting Skip and Luke back in, we just needed that and it got us over the line."
It's Hereford's first victory on a 4G pitch for sometime and next Saturday another 4G pitch at Bradford Park Avenue.
"I was nervous coming here thinking it's a 4G.
"I think you can see we've got a different type of team this year who are a lot more resolute, a lot more together and we've got some men in the team and it helps you along the way when you come to a place like this where you've got to dig in and be solid.
"Five wins, one draw and next is Bradford Park Avenue and carry on the run."
