Hereford manager Josh Gowling spoke to BBC H&W's Steve Miller after losing 1-0 at Spennymoor this afternoon.
"I thought we were excellent first half," said Gowling.
"Then second half obviously they were going to have a spell, of course they are, and I thought we dealt with that well.
"But you look at it, I thought we should have had a penalty then they go down the other end straight away and go and score.
"Today probably shows we're a couple of players off where we need to be.
"First half I thought we were excellent, we got the ball down and played, we pressed well.
"But you look at their goal, Luke has had a bad touch, they've broke and they've scored from it. Again fine margins.
"Obviously they got on top towards the end of the game but that was because we were trying to throw as many men forward as we could to try and get back in the game and get something out of it.
"Credit to the boys they've been different class, it's a hard place to come, they're a good side.
"But we're disappointed, really disappointed because we've had a good season.
"We're going to end up finishing in the highest league position that the club has ever finished in.
"But I want more, we want more in the dressing room and it's disappointing we're thin aren't we. We don't have the options to change things.
"That's things we've got to look at in the summer."
It's still possible to get in the playoffs but highly unlikely.
"I know my lads, we're going to keep going, keep performing and try and get wins on the board.
"Our target is to win the last two games."
Gowling looked ahead to next season.
"We've got to look at in the summer bringing in players with a bit more know-how, a bit more experience.
"We've got a very young side so we need to improve on that, the average age of the team."
Finally Gowling said that Ryan McLean will be back on Monday. The winger missed today because of suspension.
