We Had To Settle For A Draw Said Burr

Miles Storey Had To Be Subbed Off

Hereford assistant manager Steve Burr admitted that it had been a tough game at Kettering but thought that the players had given everything they've got on a difficult pitch.

"Most teams will find it difficult here," said Burr.

"We changed the shape a little bit to try and get ourselves a win but we had to settle for a draw in the end."

Jamie Egan played but there was no place for Dinesh Gillela who has the same agent as the former player Maziar Kouhyar.

"We went to three at the back so we brought Jamie in alongside Krystian and Ben with Seb and Ryan as wing backs.

"Dinesh was missing tonight, we worked on the shape yesterday in training. Up to a point we were quite happy how it worked but we couldn't get those little breaks that you need on the night tonight to win the game.

"I think enough been said about the surface here, we watched Brackley play here early on in the season and they found it really difficult.

"I think for both teams it's a wrestle to get the ball under control and play any sort of football whatsoever which is disappointing as it looked a decent crowd here."

Miles Storey picked up an injury in the first half and had to be subbed off.

"It's looks like he's picked up a hamstring injury. I thought Miles looked really lively tonight and got his goal through a mistake from the keeper and big Daly at the back.

"He's going to be a big miss for us but we'll access him later this week. He started really brightly tonight.

"Going forward tonight I thought we looked a threat.

"Their boy with a long throw causes problems, it's like a set piece for them, it's quite a lethal weapon but I thought all the stuff they throw into our box we dealt with reasonably well."

Manager Gowling only named four players on the box. Not named but at the game was loanee keeper Andreas Sondergaard.

"We need strengthing if we can do it before Thursday, we'll try and have a look. We've lost Maziar yesterday who has gone to York. Disappointed with that but we'll have a look and see what we can bring in but I would like to think that both Vinny and Jared and even Lloyd will be back in contension for Saturday. That would make us stronger."

What's the mood in the camp like given what's happened recently off the pitch?

"Players just get on with it, but it's disappointing because you don't want to lose any of your best players. You try to build a squad but that's how it is and we'll move on and try to replace him. Maziar was a good footballer and showing good signs this season, over the last couple of months he started to show real signs of potential."

Was Burr surprised to lose Maziar?

"Yes, yes I was."

Do you expect Dinesh to come back into the squad?

"Yea, I mean we'll see. I think work committments tonight was the cause of him not being here.

"He's part of the squad so hopefully he'll be back involved on Saturday."

Burr also mentioned the great support at the game from Hereford supporters.
